Zeena Khazendar

AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow

A Palestinian student who grew up in Jordan, surrounded by refugee camps, Zeena was exposed to the failures of low-resource healthcare at a young age. As a varsity beach volleyball player and human biology major at Stanford, she became a director of Student Clinical Opportunities for Premedical Experience (SCOPE), an organization of diverse premedical students providing Spanish and Vietnamese interpretation and volunteer services at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. She also joined the Biobehavioral Pediatric Pain Lab, leading research on the relationship between Adverse Childhood Experiences and pediatric chronic pain outcomes.
