Zeena Khazendar

AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow

A Palestinian student who grew up in Jordan, surrounded by refugee camps, Zeena was exposed to the failures of low-resource healthcare at a young age. With much of her family becoming double refugees—from Palestine, then Syria—she developed a fierce passion for serving vulnerable populations. Working with Stanford Medicine's MENA Health Program to respond systematically to health needs in the Middle East/North Africa, she founded Palestine P.A.Ls (Pediatric Research, Alliance, Leadership) to improve pediatric health research infrastructure in Palestine through mentorship and empowerment of Palestinian youth, providing them with the necessary tools to conduct academic research.
